This long confectionary tradition started with Alfons Loacker, who first started making wafers in his little pastry shop in Bolzano. Really not much has changed since then: we now make all our delicacies at 1000 meters above sea level, high up in the mountains in Auna di Sotto and Heinfels, using only carefully selected natural ingredients, with no trace of any added flavors, colors or preservatives, and we pack our specialties fresh out of the oven to preserve their full fragrance. But, to achieve perfection, goodness demands more than this, which is why we are constantly committed to greater social and environmental sustainability. Because, at Loacker, goodness is a choice.

The cosmetics and toiletries bags that the Long Haul Spa skincare is lovingly packed into come from Louenhide – an iconic Australian accessories brand. Our packaging was designed by Aboriginal Artist Jonas Dare – a Barngarla Woman from South Australia and depicts the 7 Sisters songline – a foundational story in many cultures. And what has Covid-19 brought us besides grounded flights, cancelled plans and an ache to travel? In 2017 Ricola announced a new commitment to travel retail, commissioning research by M1nd-set in Frankfurt and Hong Kong airports. Research indicated that at both airports the majority of confectionery purchases were for self-consumption; with mouth / breath refreshment being key drivers. Common findings for both airports were the requirement for great taste and self-treat of course, but also factors such as soothing a sore throat, relieving hoarseness, cough or cold, the need for a natural/healthy alternative, and sugar free products. Most importantly, shoppers in both airports were more likely to buy the brand if pocket size boxes or tins were offered with price not a consideration in the decision making process. In both airports Ricola scored highly as being of high quality, a trusted brand from Switzerland, with soothing and refreshing benefits. As a result, Ricola launched its Original Herb Sugarfree 75g tin, additionally adding Lemon Mint, Cranberry and Alpin (sic) flavours. These products have been the driving force behind a very dynamic growth for Ricola in 2019, securing first listings with many retailers that were not accessible previously, such as Lagardère, Lotte, Shilla and China Duty Free Group (CDFG). Additional listings have also been achieved with existing clients, enabling Ricola to expand its distribution across Europe and into Asia. Ricola is delighted that its 75g tins are finalists in the Confectionery & Fine Foods sector of the Frontier Awards. New products. This year has seen a design refresh of packaging on key products, along with a new 200g assorted sugar-free tin featuring a fresh new look combining images of its herbal heritage with ‘travel motif’ graphics. In 2020, upon securing additional trademark registration, the brand began expanding to China and Israel, as well as other territories in Asia. SPA of ICELAND products are encased in striking, minimalist nordic packaging, using recycled and recyclable materials that are appealing to consumers and enhance the appearance of the bath and home.
